The Ibarra Family Breakfast Cookbook
I designed a heartfelt cookbook featuring my family’s favorite breakfast recipes collected over the years with cherished family photos. This personalized project brought together my love for curation, cookbook design, and culinary arts (and my dad’s killer pumpkin pancakes).

A neutral yet eclectic feel.
An earth-toned color palette and nostalgic patterns lend to an eclectic, yet refined, scrapbook feel. Hand drawn illustrations of the ingredients and dishes tie each recipe together and highlight my own inclination toward blending illustration and design. A handwritten-style script font helps to balance the bold title font and add character to the pages.
Capturing cherished memories and the very best breakfast recipes.
I sorted through shoeboxes full of family photos and a binder filled to the brim with my family’s favorite recipes. My parents cut out recipes they found in magazines, printed pages off of food blogs, often testing and tweaking them until they had put their own spin on it or perfected the recipe. While creating this book I got to spend a lot of time reflecting on the memories these recipes have helped create, and it was a really comforting practice getting to use my background in design and publishing to put together something so close to home.
