A Handful of Firsts
Hello again after quite a lengthy newsletter hiatus. May and June were full of so many new opportunities, wonderful people, fellow artists and creatives, and a breath of fresh air.
California Roots
I’ve been working on building this small collection for months now and it’s finally time to share it with you! The collection includes prints, totes, and will soon also include some wearable items! All of my art is a form of personal expression, but this collection feels especially close to home. Illustrating in this style reminds me of the colorful children’s books I obsessed over in my childhood, and noting and researching the native plants and animals felt reminiscent of the observation notebooks I kept as a kid. When it comes down to it, making this collection was really just making art that I know younger me would have gone giddy over. And I hope that joy resonates with you.
Where We Grow
I want to get my hands on a pottery wheel! And take up painting again! And make jewelry! And try every new art medium out there! But I’ll do my best to take it one thing at a time. And what this means for the print release this week is a piece that is a continuation of a certain style I’ve been developing within illustration and drawing. Along with this new piece I’m sharing the National Parks print collection I designed for Buen Dia, as well as an inspo roundup chock full of florals, wearable art, and colorful pieces.
Fresh Starts
The newsletter is back and better than ever. This week’s post marks the release of the Birth Month 2024 Illustrated Calendar, a compilation of all the art from the birth month flower prints and tote bags compiled into one stunning wall calendar. I also share a recent personal project, a cookbook of my family’s favorite recipes, as well as an inspo roundup featuring lots of comfort objects, neutral color palettes, and functional art. It’s all pretty cozy and comforting over here.
Oh My God, It Must Be Collage
This week’s newsletter is all about bringing art, style, and spaces to life by incorporating odd elements and inviting contrast of patterns, textures, colors, and ideas. That’s right, we’re talking collage. And we can’t explore collage without tapping into the mind and work of Hannah Höch, who’s Dada work we’ll be looking at in this week’s artist highlight.
A Very O’Keeffe Week
This week I’m releasing a very O’Keeffe-inspired watercolor painting, as well as the first painting in what will be my “painting outdoors” series. This whole week’s theme is O’Keeffe really, with an inspo roundup featuring colorful, floral, surreal artwork, and a recap of some of my favorite pieces from the O’Keeffe-Moore exhibition.
